Shire Music in Miranda, NSW are celebrating their 10th anniversary this month, culminating with a one day sale this Saturday, May 30. Shire has commissioned an Anniversary Edition of the Maton Miranda, this is limited to 10 units, each with a Certificate of Authenticity from Maton, Gold Hardware and Hand Selected Timbers, available now for $1499.
On Saturday Shire will be offering discounts of up to 40%, with giveaways from Ibanez and Ashton, and a number of one off cost price specials (see them here). One of the big big bargains at the moment is an Ibanez RG770 20th anniversary reissue for $A1,650, down from $A2,995 (to convert that into your local currency, click here). There will also be the very rare and expensive Hoshino Gakki 100th Anniversary model serial #1 on display.
There will be Ibanez guitars signed by Paul Gilbert, Fear Factory and Slipknot’s Mick Thompson. Shire will also have the new Ashton Kombi on-site with Guitar Hero running out of the back.

if you want the best price, and most importantly, services, then shire music wouldn't be your best option. take a drive to other bigger store like allans music, billyhyde, you will find better range, advices, price and customer services. the differences btw shire music and major music store is huge, staffs at shire music have no customer services skills, which is a very important part of retail businesses this days, but as can be understand that the music store is small and independent which may have limited staff from further training in sales, and customer services. Difference are like david jones and a local $2 shop, i can't find a better example. The amount of guitar there is limited, plus the staff there don't even know what is the store online listed price which makes me wonder if i was in the right places. The manager is arrogant there, and i do run 2 businesses myself, so was shocked at the services. I have visited alot of music store in sydney, and this have to be the worst experience i have received so far to be very very honest. I gave a genuine, reasonable offer of 5% discount off the listed price of an example guitar, the manager rejected, then came back again and gave me a $100 discount, i told him i just bought 2 of the same kind of guitar from allans/billyhyde, and both have a 30% mark off, and as an experienced buyer, i know i am asking for an extremely fair price, every aussie who have bought guitar knows price is negotiable. Anyway, the manager started to be very rude and told me i don't understand anything, and that all i want is discount. I may also mention, the price was $4799, i gave an offer of $4500, and i say i will give a layby as it is sunday, my eftpos card is limited to withdraw and spending of $3000, guess what, the manager told me i am wasting his time, and no point discussing the about the pruchase if i can't pay in cash straightaway. This is absolutely stupid hey? i couldn't believe any sales person/business would be stupid enough to say this. Anyway, i also couldn't believe any music store can be as pushy as shire music, i end up telling the manager if $100 discount is the best for a close to 5grand purhcase, then i will have to think about it, then he started been pushy and say no, this deal is only for today, if you walk out, is not going to be the same price. For god sake, what kind of customer services is this??? is an expensive guitar, i am a professional musician, and of cos it need some time to think, and test a few more guitar. Overall, business is business, you can always tell why a store is small, some store like to state about the good services they provide and so on, but in reality, the first time i came into this music store, i felt the opposite, the manager is untrain in sales, well, i don't mean everyone have to have a marketing/sales/business diploma or degree, but at least provide your manager with some sort of sales short courses, this spending is tax deductible in australia for businesses. Overall, quite a shocky day for me and my fiance, but a good reminder for me on how to improve my family businesses in the future. Finally, i am writing this hoping to help other buyers out there who is looking for a good music store to shop for their kids,or themselves, as i know how piss off a bad music store can be. Hopefully shire music will make a change, otherwise it may end up like venue music, i am not trying to be offensive as i havn't meet or receive serivces from the owner of shire music, so can not comment, and i am sure he will want the best reputation for his store when he is not working.
