NEWS: Dunlop finally gives Kirk Hammett a signature wah

Man, has this one ever been a long time coming. Pretty much the first two names that pop into most players' minds when they think of wah wah are Jimi Hendrix and Kirk Hammett (although if you asked me I'd probably blurt out 'Frank Zappa and Mike Keneally!' but that's just me, y'understand), and now, finally, Kirk Hammett is being honoured with his own signature wah pedal by Dunlop.

Now, Kirk has used many different wah wah pedals over the years, but live he typically relies upon a Crybaby rack wah, and it's his preferred setting on that unit which forms the basis of his pedal. I for one can't wait to get my hands - or should that be feet - on this one for a test drive.

Here's the press release:

New KH95 Kirk Hammett Signature Wah Pedal from Dunlop

Now you can command the same killer wah tone as Kirk with the new Kirk Hammett Signature Wah. Developed in close collaboration with the metal guitar icon himself, it has been meticulously tuned and tweaked to deliver the wah-wah sound that revolutionized metal solos in the '80s and for all time to come. This is the legendary tone that Kirk dials in on tour, using his DCR1SR Crybaby Rack Wah.

Dunlop's engineers took Kirk's EQ, volume and tone settings reflecting decades of blazing Crybaby riffology‹and reproduced them with exacting precision. The Kirk Hammett Wah is exceptionally even in response as you move from heel to toe, with a thick top end and full dynamic range. Dare to step into the footprint of a giant. Own a piece of the legend: the Kirk Hammett Signature Wah from Dunlop. List Price $264.61, Street Price $159.99;
